Services

The goal of the Weld County Diabetes Coalition is to establish and support community education programs for people who have risk factors for developing cardiovascular disease, including diabetes, or the medically underserved who have been diagnosed with diabetes.  The following is a menu of services provided through the Weld County Diabetes Coalition:

Dining with Diabetes

Dining with Diabetes is a hands-on meal-planning course that is appropriate for people who are diagnosed with diabetes, those at risk for developing diabetes and caretakers of diabetics.  This program has repeatedly demonstrated significant increases in participants' knowledge, behavior and self-efficacy by the end of the series.

Zumba

Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music - dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, and an effective workout. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps. The classes are taught in Spanish by a certified aerobics instructor. Limited childcare is provided. The classes have been established to provide an opportunity for Spanish speaking community members to participate in a group exercise program to help control their diabetes or reduce their risk of developing diabetes in the future. The public is always invited to attend.

Group

The platicas program brings diabetes prevention education to the home. The Diabetes Health Educator recruits women from the community to host a platica, a small group discussion in their home or church. The Diabetes Health Educator facilitates a discussion with friends and family members about diabetes prevention in the comfort of the host's home.

Please contact us for more information on any of our services. Visit our community calendar for dates on all upcoming classes.
